1500 towers in 14 days – How Uptime kick–started Operations and Maintenance for the World’s Leading Tower Company
In 2008 the tower company asked Uptime Infratel to take over operations and maintenance of 1500 strategic towers in the nation’s capital city, Delhi. Security clearances were required for each new employee and many sites were difficult to access due to VIP security requirements. In addition, the nation’s most strategic sites demand 100 per cent ‘uptime’ – a major challenge in a takeover situation. Complicating matters, the takeover had to be completed within 14 days to ensure that the previous operator did not take the opportunity to register its displeasure at losing its contract.

Vishal Phanse, Executive Vice President, negotiated the Managed Services assignment on behalf of Uptime Infratel and oversaw its implementation. Phanse said “Our customer recognized Uptime’s strong technical and managed services capabilities and this is the reason Uptime won the contract despite the company’s concerns for potential downtime and damage to its reputation. I like to think we did a good job since Uptime continues to manage these sites 24 months later”.
